Q: Why is TD Bank involved in CofC’s 250th anniversary celebration?

A: TD Bank has a long-standing history of supporting its customers, colleagues and communities through events, programs, projects and activities that make a positive local impact.  We feel that investing in sponsorships like CofC’s anniversary celebration means investing in the community, which is extremely important to us.  For 250 years, CofC has played a vital role in city of Charleston and the state of South Carolina, and TD is proud to help celebrate that.

 

Q: How exactly is TD Bank helping CofC celebrate its 250th anniversary?

A: TD Bank is proud to serve as a Platinum Sponsor of the year-long anniversary celebration. We look forward to attending the celebration events throughout the year and learning more about the rich history of the College and their plans for future achievements.

 

Q: What is TD Bank’s relationship with CofC?

A: We have enjoyed a long-standing partnership with the College of Charleston through our naming rights of the TD Arena, which we recently extended for a 10-year term.

 

Q: What other philanthropic efforts does TD Bank support in the Lowcountry through its charitable arm?

A: We are committed to driving change that will enrich the lives of those in the communities in which we live and work. Because of this, TD Bank is proud to support many other community organizations who are working tirelessly to make a difference in the Charleston area. Through our community sponsorships and the TD Charitable Foundation, we have provided support to worthwhile organizations like MUSC, Lowcountry Food Bank, the SC Aquarium, the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce and Charleston Animal Society to name a few.

 

Q: What in particular has been TD Bank’s involvement in the International African American Museum?

A: We are proud to be one of the first financial institutions to have pledged support of the Museum several years ago. The TD Charitable Foundation provided $250,000 to support the Museum’s Center for Family History.  In addition to our Foundation support, in 2020 TD Community Development Corporation provided an equity investment of more than $5.5 million to the Museum through a New Market Tax Credits allocation to assist in its construction project and opening.

 

Q: Is there any particular urgency to your support of this and other community activities?

A: Our communities need us now more than ever. The COVID-19 pandemic has created massive social and economic disruption for individuals and communities around the world. At TD, we believe that timely investment in targeted expertise has the potential to help build long-term resilience for our communities.

 

Q: How has Covid affected TD Bank and the industry as a whole?

A: COVID-19 has fundamentally challenged the banking industry, along with so many others. It has accelerated customers’ preferences for Omni-channel capabilities, necessitating analytics to drive personalized experiences. Banks are increasingly focused on efficiency and flexibility in their operating models and the strength of their balance sheets. However, while the pandemic has hastened several of our strategic imperatives, our core strategy remains unchanged – TD Bank will continue to prioritize convenience, service, advice and community support.
